If your anything like me, you need quiet to be able to study. The third floor of the library is perfect for this, its quiet, and everyone is fairly respectful of one another. I've seen these signs talking about renovations the past couple days and didn't think much of it, until today. The third floor is packed, seating is hard to find, basement getting overcrowded and there are too many people walking around. Its November, the last month of the term, we have midterms, we have papers, we have end of term assignments and labs. UVic is being disrespectful, if they are looking to do renovations they should find a different time to do them that is more accommodating to us, the students that give them a job in the first place.

There is already a huge lack of spaces to study on this campus. Why was this not done over the summer when the student population is significantly smaller?

Year to year the amount of students increase and the study space stays the same. Now UVic is choosing to renovate one of the largest and by far the quietest study spaces on campus in the busiest time in first semester. Completely unacceptable, this will effect students GPA and mental health.

Please postpone renovations until December! I use this space daily, as I have no desk at home and struggle to study where people are speaking. Please consider the students needs, especially in this very busy month.

Finding a place to sit is hard enough as it is. The fact they're doing renovations during the busiest time of the semester, and not a month later when the semester ends, is disrespecful of the university.

Wandered around the library for 20 minutes yesterday before I finally found somewhere to sit. Not acceptable. Give us an alternative if you’re going to remove so much seating.

The third floor is the main place I study, also the main place I find most (9/10) of the books that I need for my upcoming term papers

Third floor quiet study is the only place I can focus and study in peace and quiet on the campus
