A few years back, I was so anxious and depressed, to the point of suicide attempts. I got a snake (not a dog, but regardless, animals help immensely with mental health. ) With that snake, I started talking to people, I was able to get psychiatric help, became closer to friends that had been driven away. Any animal you feel a connection with, will do wonders. I hope you get your pup, or something else to help you out mate.

I never grew up with dogs so I never understand what they could do for a person. Now, as an adult, I just recently picked up my first pup and I can say I've never been happier. They are truly man's best friend.

I understand where you are coming from - I was (and still am) in a similar situation in life (except I didn't try and get a dog, and I will be moving away to go to uni next year) Anyways, every vote counts, so good luck getting the dog!
