I Like Bike: Let the 2015 Candidates Know You Support Bicycling in Indy

Indianapolis has made great strides in the expansion of bicycling related infrastructure, and the use of bicycles for recreational riding, and for everyday transportation. These improvements and the progress IndyCog have made has resulted in Indianapolis becoming a more bike friendly city, and garnered national attention—thanks to support from residents like you.
IndyCog wants to ensure that these advances continue into the future. Under our I LIKE BIKE campaign, we are reaching out to the candidates to educate, and inform them about the importance of biking in Indianapolis, and encourage them to continue the investments in cycling the city has made thus far. As Indy’s bicycling advocacy group, we are providing an opportunity for our members to have their voices heard.

I lived in Chicago for 25 years. While Mayor Daley was in office, he created an ordinance where all new construction in the Loop needed to provide a bike garage and shower/workout facilities. For the past 10 years, there has been a great increase in cycling to work and road awareness. One person can make a great difference.
Please help make the roadways safer for bicyclists. I am a cyclist and a trauma chaplain at Methodist Hospital. I have worked way too many unnecessary cycling tragedies. I hope you will help make our roadways safer. Thank you.
My adult children are cyclists and use this as a primary mode of transportation. One daughter works for a local cycle.co.ponent designer and manufacturer here in Indy. This supports the hobbyists and local economy!
I LOVE riding my bike, but it gets exhausting having to be constantly hyper vigilant because there is so little knowledge/respect for cyclists' rights and way too many distracted drivers. We have got to do a better job of learning to share the road!
I have been riding my bike to work for ten years thanks to infrastructure like the Monon, Cultural Trail and bike lanes, this wouldn't be possible. I'd like to see more in the way of sidewalks and separated bike paths through out Marion County.
We need to do everything we can to help Indiana loose its stigma regarding lack of outdoor opportunity. We have come a long way already, and we still have a ways to go.
Please continue the Mayor's bicycle programs and the bicycle coordinator position in the city government.

Downtown Indianapolis has seen some great improvements to bicycling infrastructure in recent years, but the surrounding city is still sorely lacking. It is particularly harrowing to ride through the West and South sides of the city.
