20+ years of being told it was all in my head!! Why? Because most doctors have no knowledge about this disease.

FINALLY! AWARENESS for this disease. I have been suffering from this disease for 10 years and could NOT get a diagnosis from my doctor(s). I finally changed doctors, just recently, had three parathyroid scans done in one day, and yes, I have at least one tumor on one parathyroid. I will be having surgery in the near future to have it removed. PLEASE!! SPREAD THE WORD SO PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO SUFFER FOR SO LONG!!!

I also have the disease( second time around) and it has changed my life forever with the damage it has done to my body. Drs. are so unknowledgeable about Phpt and it is killing people.

Parathyroid Journey Thursday December 11, 2014 I will complete my long journey to find the problem I have had for years. For many years I kept telling my doctor "there is something wrong with me". Along this line I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis, osteopenia, insomnia and of course my hormones (I was told) caused my hair to fall out. I didn't tell him about the depression or anxiety as I didn't want to just be medicated. I wanted a solution. February 22, 2002 I had my first surgery to remove a kidney stone too large to pass. My Vitamin D was low so I began taking 50,000 units per week. Still saying "there is something wrong". I had to see an ear, nose and throat specialist for another problem, and told him what was going on and he told me it was my parathyroid. First time I had ever heard the word parathyroid. Sometime in 2013 (I believe) Calcium level was checked and I was told it was high, by the nurse practitioner at my doctors office (our family doctor told her it was my parathyroid I was to no longer take the Vitamin D). She told me 99% of the time it is your parathyroid and 1% it is cancer (after consulting with our doctor). They ran all kinds of tests and ruled out cancer (oh by the way while testing for cancer they found two stones in my kidney). Okay, that left the 99%. Had to see another doctor in the same office and tried to talk to him and he said also this is your parathyroid. Nothing was said about doing anything about it by any of the three. June 2014 we went to Florida for our granddaughters wedding. Just before getting on the plane, I began having the pain as when I had the first kidney stone. It got so bad an ambulance had to meet us at the airport and take me to the hospital. Yes, another surgery to remove a 9mm stone. The two surgeons at this Florida hospital were upset that my physicians knew I had the stones and did nothing (they were found in January 2014). They both told me it was my parathyroid and about

My father, God Bless him was misdiagnosed for close to 5 years, yet knowing "something" was wrong. There were times I know he questioned his own sanity. I am so thankful that he found treatment with Dr. Norman in Tampa, FL and will spend my days helping people become aware of how serious this issue is!

This is such a destructive insidious disease. It can be complex to diagnose. It is curable if diagnosed and treated with surgery.
