Thank God my internist had attended a medical meeting at which Dr. Norman presented. He knew to refer me to Tampa when my hyperparathyroidism was diagnosed. The gastgastroenterologist at Mayo never thought to check my Calcium level when I had severe GERD that had shown up rather suddenly. One microsurgery at the Norman Parathroid Clinic, and I was cured! No need for PPIs post-surgery.

Help get this disease recognised, heip us to live a normal life again.

I will do whatever I can to get this word out! How many people are suffering for YEARS with "wait and see" attitudes?

My son has this condition and had a failed operation in London this year. Experts are needed to help cure people properly and not chancers who do operations without real expertise!

I was diagnosed 3yrs ago , I am now waiting for surgery due to having osteoporosis. I wonder how long I've had it for as I have been back and forth to Dr over years for different symptoms that I now find are connected to this disease. Dr's in this country do not know enough about it.

I found out in April that I had high calcium(11) at urgent care . I Google it because I didn't know why that would make me so sick. Went to my doctor asked for pht (83.5 )and calcium(10.3) he said my test was normal I freak out on him. He did blood test again in may calcium (9.8) pht (75.6) v-d (25.1) so he said it was because my v-d was low to take 2000u of v-d a day and retest in 2 months I have had him tell me I'm wrong laugh at me so I went to a surgeon. The surgeon wanted me to take the v-d also and to retest . In July my calcium (10.2) pht (92.4) waiting for the v-d test to come back , The surgeon said he was Hesitant on doing surgery on me because my calcium wasn't that high. Went home frustrated. 2 days later the surgeon called me my v-d was 76 wish is almost high now. He called me on his personal phone because he went on vacation wanted more blood work and I praying I hear from him sooon

I have been diagnosed with parathyroid hormone. Need to be watched. By Dr Norman clinic. But Dr don't understand and I am being egnored. Suffering for nothing. Hope things can change.

Had my surgery.

I suffered horrible bone and joint pain, memory and concentration problems and depression for Hyperparathyroidism for over 10 years while all my Dr.'s told me that was all typical for my age ( this all started at about 45) because they did not know what high calcium levels indicated! Even though I have now had surgery and been cured, I still suffer from severe osteoporosis and kidney damage which could have been prevented had I been diagnosed in a timely manner. I don't want others to suffer as I did!

My story is crazy. I had breast cancer (Masectomy 12/16/14)and now I just discovered my high calcium of over 20 years was parathyroid. Operated on Tuesday. They discovered I had 5 parathyroids no one has that very rare so my Dx was "super parathyroid". They took two out. I just want someone to chat with who's perhaps in a similar situation. 4 days out and my anxiety is totally gone - no more heart palputations - curious to see what tomorrow brings!

This is a debilitating disease that if left untreated for too long wreaks havoc in a person's life.

If there is anything I can do in addition to this for the cause please reach out to me! I'm not afraid to be vocal about this topic!

I had over range calcium in 1994 but no one told me. I was diagnosed in January 2016 after being admitted to hospital with severe pain. My Endo refused me surgery solely because I'm over 50--and for no other reason. Please try to accept that the over 50's have a right to be cured as well. x
