I drive this section twice a day and I am constantly alarmed at it's impending hazards. When riding a bicycle I tend to avoid the section for the same reason. The upgrades being discussed could not only improve general traffic and pedestrian safety but also promote ease of access to great healthful outdoor resources for a wide population of residents.

This stretch of road has been dangerous for all the 28 years I have lived in Mahtomedi.

We certainly can make this area safer for bikes, peds, cars and busses. I've never understood the reason for the high speed exiting Mahtomedi. The turn to and from Cedar/Hall is so difficult that our teen drivers have to drive all the way around to avoid it. Great initiative!

I'm especially concerned about the Wedgewood Drive intersection. I grew up 2 blocks away from that intersection, and it was never a safe place for us to walk out bike across. Even pedestrian crossing lights would help alert drivers who far too often don't slow down.

As an avid bicyclist that regularly uses the intersection of Hwy 12 and 244 I implore you to consider the safety all road users in the redesign of this intersection. The heavy car traffic at some times of the day makes it very difficult for bikers and walkers to access the bike path when going west of Hwy 12 and turning south onto the bike path. Please make this intersection safer for bikers, walkers and people with disabilities.

I've witnessed pedestrians and bicyclists at risk in this corridor: now it is time to address these safety issues.

This is the time to intelligently re-design this challengingly but important pedestrian and bicycling area.

From the Washington County 2040 Plan, Transportation Goal 3 section, page 3-10 " Coordinate with partners to improve safety and usability of county roadways when developing safe, effective and implementable strategies in key locations like schools and non-motorized crossings."

I fully support the any and all efforts to improve MN 244 for for bikes and pedestrians. This area is in desperate need of a "Greenway" space along this corridor to allow residents a non-motorized means of accessing pharmacies, groceries, health care, etc. I personally bike the section between Birchwood Road and downtown Mahtomedi a few times a week in the summer. I'be been waiting for someone to improve bike-ability along this stretch for years. Glad it's finally happening!

Please prioritize safety improvements for 1) Wedgewood Drive Crosswalk 2) Bike Lanes and signs 3) Speed reduction and calming, to enable our families and students to safety bike and walk directly to community schools, businesses, parks and churches, including the new library.
