We, the students of Heriot-Watt, demand that the Court of Heriot-Watt University take action to protect our identity as university students at the Scottish Borders Campus. We believe we have the right to expect a university student experience that is different to the experience of co-location with college students. We call for the unused dance floor area of the Union to be is designated as Heriot-Watt University student space.

 Heriot-Watt University Student Union believes that students have a right to expect services and facilities appropriate to their university learning experience and shouldn’t have to change their expectations when coming to the Scottish Borders Campus. The Student Union proposes to provide a social space on campus designated for Heriot-Watt University students where they can express their identity and mix with their peers.

 The Student Union has proposed to the Scottish Borders Campus Management Committee that an area of unused space be assigned to Heriot-Watt University students. This area is not currently used for any purpose and the proposal will allow both College and University students to each benefit from the shared facilities whilst retaining their own distinct identities.

 We have been working hard to secure this space for Heriot-Watt University students but so far our requests have been refused. We urgently need the students of Heriot-Watt University to stand up for their campus, their identity and their student experience. Please sign the below petition and help us make a difference.
