We had this problem in College Lane and the modern lights are really out of character with the lane. I strongly support the move to refurbish the original lamposts in keeping with the local architecture.

my gran is 101, blind, and lives on the high street the work involved in changing the lamp post would effcetively make her house bound as she knows the pavements and layouts but would be able to cope with the pavements being dug up.

We live on the High Street and could not agree more with other supporters of this petition. Hurstpierpoint is a unique village with lots of history and character and every effort should be made to conserve this.

I object to this proposal on the grounds that modern lighting is totally inappropriate in a Conservation Area and cost of refurbishing the existing must be justified on aesthetic grounds alone.
