Hunger in Chicago
"Why should there be hunger and deprivation in any land, in any city, at any table when man has the resources and the scientific know how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life?" -Martin Luther King Jr.
Hunger in Chicago is a huge problem, but there is a way to help charities and companies like Feed my starving children, Greater Chicago food depository, and Chicago Cares. These campaigns have helped come closer to a city where no one goes to bed hungry. In Fact the campaign Greater Chicago Food Depository serves to 232,100 people annually in Chicago! Even though much is being done to help them the problem is still here. In 2012 800,000 people were food insecure and 1 in 5 children went to bed hungry ("GCFD, np"). We as a society should be trying harder to solve hunger and we can accomplish that by helping out. Richer people have been more nourished than hungry people, this is another problem. Donating can food to Chicago campaigns can help a lot! Greater Chicago food depository has soup kitchens located all around Chicago that people can volunteer for in order to make a change. Sometimes as much as you want to help their isn't much free time to do so that's why and easier but still helpful method to helping is donating money you can find many charities to help solve hunger in Chicago some charities are Chicago Cares and No Kid Hungry . Together we can make a change, it isn't easy but if everyone contributed and helped out even if it's simply not wasting food at home we could make Chicago hunger free and bring notice to this injustice, because so many people have suffered and died because of hunger. Why should young kids have to go to bed hungry? For so long hunger has been pushed aside but by bringing notice to the situation and signing this petition we can bring awareness and have people donate and help out so one day no child or adult has to go to bed hungry and with a growling stomach.
