Since the 2025 “Schlep situation,” many players have expressed concerns regarding Roblox’s moderation policies and recent platform updates. While we recognize that Roblox must prioritize child safety and enforce its Community Standards, there is growing concern that certain systems may be impacting users without sufficient transparency, consistency, or fairness.



We fully support safety measures designed to protect younger users. However, safety systems must also remain fair, transparent, and proportionate.



Recent Updates That Have Raised Concern



• Age Verification / Face or ID-Based Chat Access

Roblox has introduced systems requiring facial scanning or ID verification to access certain chat features.



Concerns raised by users include:

- AI-based age estimation may incorrectly assign age groups

- Risk of misclassification affecting user experience

- Privacy concerns regarding biometric or ID data collection

- Limited clarity on alternative options for users uncomfortable with verification



• Removal of Classic Avatar Faces

The replacement of classic Roblox faces with newer dynamic designs has led to widespread criticism among long-term users.



Concerns include:

- Loss of nostalgic and iconic platform identity

- Negative reception of newer visual design choices

- Reduced perceived value of legacy cosmetic items



• Stricter Moderation and Linked Account Enforcement

Some users have reported permanent bans linked to previously banned or unknown alternate accounts, sometimes without clear explanation.



Concerns include:

- Limited transparency in how linked accounts are identified

- Users being penalized for very old or inactive accounts

- Lack of clarity in moderation and appeal outcomes



Core Concerns Identified by the Community



- Retroactive enforcement of old account violations

- Heavy reliance on automated or AI-based systems

- Lack of transparency in moderation decisions

- Reduced social interaction due to stricter communication systems

- Loss of older platform identity and community features







Requested Improvements



We respectfully request that Roblox consider the following changes:



- A reasonable limitation on how long past account violations can affect new accounts

- A human review option for AI-based age verification decisions

- Clearer explanations for moderation actions and enforcement decisions

- Optional (not mandatory) identity verification for chat access

- Preservation or optional access to classic avatar elements

- A more transparent and accessible appeals system for linked-account bans







Roblox has been a meaningful platform for millions of users for many years. We believe it is possible to maintain a safe environment while also improving fairness, transparency, and user trust.
