Humiliation during 6 min warm up @ Walton-le-dale high PE lessons

This must be the biggest joke played by a parent. I don’t know whether to laugh at how stupid this is or be pissed off for how disrespectful it is to the teacher and now the head teacher. I’m a former student and the PE teacher pushed us to be fitter and healthier not for anyone but ourselves. It’s a joke that you’d put a teacher in a compromising position for doing their job (PHYSICAL education) if u have a problem with the ‘bullying’ it’s down to the students who are bullying not the teacher who could lose their job over this bs

I believe this petition to be misleading. I went to that high school and never had any problems with PE. They always pushed us to be the best we can be, physically and mentally. As somebody who works in a primary school and sees the year 6s transitioning into year 7 students they will have always participated in a PE lesson at primary school so P.E isn’t just a new start to them. An 11/12 year old should have the physical capabilities to complete a warm up. Excluding medical or disability issues. If this petition is correct then how do they continue with the other 45/50 minutes of the P.E lesson? Or should we just scrap P.E because they can’t do 6 minutes of exercise at the start? When they only probably do one P.E lesson a week? This school is an amazing school and would recommend it to anyone and the teaching staff are fantastic but I think you clearly need to give more details on why or how your child cannot complete this warm up without aiming for the teachers for trying to push your child to get fit and look after themselves? Because if they can compete in the rest of the lesson then this should be taken down. Bullying is wrong and I’m against it. But this needs to be re-evaluated before you start aiming for the teachers and the school.

I've just asked my son who is in first year at Walton if this was true, and he said yes. I don't think it's humiliation personally, rather teaching discipline, perseverance and determination. He did say certain types of children tend to stop,but I'm not sure a petition is necessary. I think most children should be able to run/jog for 6 minutes unless there is an underlying condition such as asthma, if not, then I think the exercise will do them good.

This petition is smearing the good name and reputation of both the school and the PE staff. I very much doubt many, if any, of those signing it are parents of children at the school or are over 18. If I was the parent (assuming it is a parent) who created it, then I would be very worried that a) it could result in the exclusion of my child by the school and b) the school or PE staff suing me for defamation. I suggest you delete the petition immediately.

Really?? You're honestly saying this is bullying and a teacher trying to humiliate your child?? Maybe some of the people on here should take a look at there kids and ask why they can't manage a 6 minute run? Maybe some of the parents on here should actively encourage there children to improve there physical ability instead of putting them in front of a tv.. Good on the p.e. teacher for trying to push the kids! We're raising a generation of snivelling serial complaining children who won't be able to emotionally cope with the real world.. When your son / daughter gets a job and they make them do something they don't like at work are you going to start a petition then??? Seriously grow up and try getting your children to toughen up and try harder instead of blaming others for their failings.

I am in this School and all of this is true and I agree with this message cause I told my mum about this and she went ballistic at the school. Students gent bullied cause of their strength and that they can’t run for six minutes,, it is unfair because the fitter students tell the other students who can’t handle it for six minutes, of for walking and cause of their strength.. because of this the headteacher does not agree with this and for that my mum has to go to the government!!

No child should be treated this way. Some children struggle with physical things, it is not their fault.
