Sex trafficking violates women’s right to life, liberty and security of person.Sex trafficking is often referred to as modern-day slavery. Many countries have ratified various international conventions that create obligations to prohibit slavery and slavery-like practices. While some sex trafficking situations may not involve the permanent ownership historically associated with slavery, they can involve exploitation and deprivations of liberty that render the situation tantamount to slavery. Slavery-like practices that can manifest in sex trafficking situations, including servitude, forced labor, debt bondage, and forced marriages.Some acts of sex trafficking involve conduct that can be understood as a form of torture, inhuman or degrading treatment, which is prohibited.

At least 700,000 people are trafficked worldwide each year; trafficking is the fastest growing means by which people are enslaved today.Young girls are trafficked to work as domestics in West Africa, boys as young as four are abducted from countries in South Asia and forced to work as camel jockeys in the Gulf, and women from eastern Europe are sold into Europe's sex industry. - "Governments need to protect the human rights of trafficked people. The public has an important role to play. By signing Anti-Slavery International's petition they show the UK Government and governments around the world that human trafficking is an important issue and fighting it must be made a priority," Director of Anti-Slavery International, Mary Cunneen said.

There's always a solution to a problem, however when it comes to human trafficking solving this type of problem is not an easy one to solve. Several ways to help these people is by creating hotlines. Hotlines can help many people no matter where they are. If we make hotlines as cheap international calls there would be more people that can be helped. It will give them hope that there are people who can help them and that there is a way out of these situations. Other than hotlines having clubs and organization throughout the world that can be like safe home for people to go to when they are running away from the traffickers. The money that will be needed to build these type of homes can come from the help of the cities local congresswoman. If they are willing to help those in need if can help thousands of people in the world.
