The fact that Hudson College provided Hudson College families depend on before care (from 07:30 AM) and after care (till 04:30 PM) as part of the tuition fees made the decision selecting Hudson an attractive decision. Based on the email that was sent June 21 to Hudson families the before and after care will not be available anymore in the same way it was available before the pandemic. A lot of us are concerned for the following reasons:
- The timing of such a decision is unacceptable, especially that a lot of us already paid 2021-22 tuitions
- For parents that depended on the before and after care, this is an extra $300 a month a child which is another $3k a year a child
- Some programs such as skating and swimming programs are unlikely to happen again in 2021-22 and so that means we are paying more for less
- The fact that after care started at 07:30 AM supported working parents to get to work soon enough to work for ~8 hours to then pick up their kids at 04:30 PM
What we are asking for - to revert changes to the before and after program to the way it was before the pandemic.

We hit our first major milestone today and it proves that the administration cannot ignore this group any longer. Post this link on your Facebook feed right now and send a direct email to the board of directors demanding they account for these added costs.

Thanks for creating this petition. I engaged the administration on this topic individually and voiced the concerns raised here by others. This is both more more expensive, more limited and less convenient for working parents - not a winning mix. As with others, this was one of the reasons we came to Hudson.
Pretty straight forward. The 7:30 to 4:30 program was the best and worked most folks. Hopefully this schedule will be re-instated.
One of the major factors in bringing my child to Hudson was the inclusion of free child care after class.
We decided to come to Hudson because of its reputation and the schedule was flexible for families with 2 working parents. They are removing that flexibility with no regards for those impacted.
In addition, Hudson College needs to communicate and consult with families before decisions of this nature are made, to get better buy-in to their approach and improve it based on families’ feedback. Hudson College’s engagement with its family community and transparency on these decisions is consistently poor.
Honestly very disappointed with the lack of communication.
Big reason we joined the school was to have the before and after school care included in the fees.

As with other families, we are a family with 2 working parents and before and after care was a major factor in our decision making process.
