WHEREAS the Province of Ontario is currently facing the largest recession since the Second World War. WHEREAS low-income Ontarians should not be left at a disadvantage as a result of job creating tax reforms WHEREAS the Government of Ontario has introduced the Harmonized Sales Tax to create jobs and make the economy more competitive WHEREAS the Government of Ontario has introduced a income tax cut for 93% of Ontario taxpayers WHEREAS 90,000 low-income Ontarians would no longer pay Personal Income Tax WHEREAS low-income taxpayers would see a 16.5% cut in the tax rate on their first $36,848 of taxable income WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows: That the Government of Ontario move forward with progressive tax savings for low-income Ontarians and job creation under the HST.
