The streets around Hampstead are not suitable to be used as HGV routes. stop HS2 · consider the alternatives to HS2 · ensure, if HS2 goes ahead, that: - the line is built in a tunnel all the way to Kings Cross/St Pancras and not as part of the London Overground and - all spoil is removed from and all materials are brought to building sites by rail and/or canal and not by road as is currently proposed, which will cause significant damage, disruption and commercial harm to Hampstead and the surrounding area.

It's vital to keep some of our heritage intact, and Hampstead is very special.
My children go to school both in Hampstead and Belsize Park and we live close to Hampstead Heath. If the HS2 goes ahead this will have a huge impact on traffic. Its not always an easy journey but this will make it so difficult, and it affects many schools in a small area. A huge consideration is also the Royal Free. How are ambulances meant to get to and from the hospital in emergencies, if they are caught in the traffic, this could have devastating consequences.

There are so many more valuable ways to spend such enormous sums - such as just improving the rail networks we already have.

It is vital for the conservation of Hampstead that the HS2 project take account of the effects that it will have on this and other conservation areas like it by restricting the passage of HGVs through the area and by keeping access to Central London open and traffic moving during the extended construction period.

Please do not allow the current plan to proceed. The effects of additional disruption, noise and chaos in Belsize Park and Hampstead will be devastating to this beautiful and historic part of London.

I am a weekly commuter between London and Somerset. The train line is antiquated, inefficient, and costing me money! To invest across the whole network, rather than build a new rail line would be a revolution and if we are talking about economics, which frankly is the catalyst here, beneficial to all parties. A nation-wide revamp is what the great Brunel would have wanted. I don't want to hear him turn in his grave!

I urge the government to think again. The vast expense, disruption and misery for such a long time, and for something most people do not want, and which in the end will be of limited benefit, is a bad idea and poor use of an enormous amount of money that is badly needed elsewhere.
