Music department does not need parking from 11 PM - 5 AM (Overnight parking). The students do, parking lot may be available for the music department during the day time.

I would like to point out that if more parking was available for those who live in the HP's there would less of an issue for those who live in the 6 pack, Mahaffey, and Dana. Since upperclassmen in the HP's don't always have enough space to park they may sometimes choose to park in areas nearer to underclassmen dorms. This is a campus wide issue, and adding parking for HP residents would really reduce it.

There are very rarely parking spots overnight in this area.

Personally, I have had to make the decision on whether or not I want to get a parking ticket or feel safe walking from the Ford parking lot. And every time I chose to risk getting a ticket over feeling unsafe walking to my apartment in the middle of the night. It is frustrating that many upperclassmen have their cars at school but yet the buildings in which the majority of us live does not have adequate parking to support these students.

It would also be nice if Campus Security would stop ticketing students who are parked in clearly marked overnight areas.

There is inadequate parking near the HPs and adding another two rows of parking in the Vivian Bull lot would allow students living in the HPs to have safe and convenient parking while still allowing enough space for music and theater students and faculty to park in the lot. It would greatly improve the HP living arrangement.

I myself am a music student and I can honestly say that the Musoc Building's parking lot does not need to be completely off limits for overnight parking. There are really not that many faculty members in the music department, and of those few members some of them only are on campus one or two days a week, so they really do not need that much reserved parking. Most students who have classes in the music building walk there and do not need priority for parking, either. The priority should be given to students living in or near the HP's so they can have a safe place close to their apartment to park overnight.

Seeing as students and professors park during the day, it makes sense to have non-overnight spots, but another row or two of overnight would be appreciated and would likely still leave sufficient room for the music building.

I think the music building parking lot does not need to be non over night parking. I realize that it is for the professors that work there but there needs to be more spaces for students to park because there are more students with cars than spots.

I think this is a very good idea because the parking by the HPs is extremely limited and because I was a victim of my car getting hit being parked on Lever I don't always feel comfortable having my car parked there and when I am coming back to park at night and there isn't any parking I don't feel safe parking across campus and walking back by myself.

Sometimes, we simply cannot avoid parking in a non-overnight location due to the distance to our apartments. Getting ticketed for this is a complete waste of time, and considering how much we pay as students to attend this school, I feel it is within the Administration’s duties to give us more parking spots that are closer and safer in relation to the distance to the HPs. It is pointless to get ticketed for what is unavoidable: that the same twenty or so spots are filled nightly when there are numerous other residents fighting for these same spots. These residents are either forced to take the ticket or to park a dangerous distance away from the HPs—and at night, this should be a safety concern for the college. This is a ludicrous situation. The music center does not need that many spots each night. If, for a daytime event, the parking lot needs to be cleared, sending an email will do just fine for us to move our vehicles for the time being. At night, however, there really is no issue to us parking in the music building’s spaces when they aren’t being used by any music festivities, which, in my experience, has not happened.

This is a legitimate concern and I hope that changes are made for those who live in the HP apartments.
