Howard University has always been known for its academics in addition to the many social gatherings held throughout the years that create tightknit and long-lasting friendships throughout each class.

Unfortunately, this year Howard Administration decided to take away essential aspects of the freshman experience, which includes the joining of organizations like Gentlemen of Drew, Ladies of Quad, Pals, and other organizations that could open many doors for Howard freshman students. Not only does this decision limit freshman from creating new opportunities, but it also creates an even bigger barrier between the freshman students and the rest of the Howard undergraduate student body. Furthermore, it further prevents freshman students from being able to communicate easily with their upperclassmen counterparts, therefore also preventing them from getting the advice they would need from seasoned Howard students.

Although the reasoning behind the suspension of joining such groups is reasonable, it is not fair for the HU experience to be taken away from incoming freshmen by the administration as being able to join certain groups and going to certain events have been a part of the school’s tradition for years.

Essentially what the Howard undergraduate student body is asking for is for the suspension to be lifted or at least shortened so that Howard Class of 2019 students and students after them can get a real taste of Howard.

So please if you will, sign this petition if believe the suspension should be lifted so Howard Class of 2019 and future classes won’t be left out of the tradition!
