In that the Constitution of the United States guarantees freedom of religion, the undersigned request that Howard High School provide a one minute pause to allow for the exercise of said religion.  The pause is requested after the morning announcements and would be marked by a tone before and after the one minute pause.  During the pause students may talk quietly, organize supplies, read, relax, or pray silently.  The reason for the request is that there is currently no time available for prayer in the school day which is therefore an infringement on freedom of religion.  The pause would be nothing more than a pause and need no name but that it is a pause in the day.  This would afford students who wish to pray an opportunity to do so without disturbing those who do not wish to pray.  Because prayer increases the moral character of the faithful, this pause will necessarily improve the condition of the student body.
