This issue first started when Travis Kalanick and Garrett Campin made Uber in March 2009, in San Francisco, California, United States. However, the issue was not as major and well known as it is right now. The issue took off in May 31th 2010 when Uber officially launched in Sans Francisco. It gained over $11.5 on its opening, and now has earned over 17 billion dollars.

Uber has taken away thousands of jobs from taxi drivers in Toronto, and has also caused many investors who bought taxi medallions to lose money and for some, even go in debt. This also negatively affects our economy, as a lot of people are losing their jobs due to this, and thus, losing a lot of money.

Lastly, taxi drivers have had the most impact due to this issue. Thousands of taxi drivers have lost their jobs due to Uber taking over their business. This has caused them to lose their jobs, not make any money, and many of them are not able to support their family. This is a huge negative effect for the taxi drivers.

Think about our local taxi drivers. So many taxi drivers have lost their jobs and now are unemployed. This is raising the unemployment rate and is also ruining our economy even more. Since we are the youths/young adults, this will affect us heavily as we will be getting jobs/careers soon. Together we can make a change and fight against Uber!
