How Many Departments Do YOU Work In? WALMART: Associates need better Department Transfer and Training Practices!

As Walmart Associates, we all want to do the best job that we can. We are proud of the work we do, assisting customers, stocking shelves, moving inventory, collecting carts, and making this the best store we can!

In light of the recent improvements Walmart has made regarding raising the minimum wages and enhancing our sick time and scheduling policies, we would like to bring the department transfer practice to Walmart’s attention so that we can improve this as well.

Right now, temporary, part time and full time Associates are being pulled from their departments on a regular basis and being asked to cover for understaffing in other departments.

Right now, most of us that are pulled have NOT been trained in these departments and we struggle with being able to do the job in the best way possible, which negatively affects us all, especially the customers.

Right now, when we are pulled, we are often COACHED for productivity issues because we are expected to do the work in our departments AS WELL as the departments we are pulled in to.

This practice is bad for everyone- Customers, Associates, and Walmart.

It means Associates are working in departments without knowing the proper policy to get the job done right, which is always stressful and sometimes dangerous.

It means Associates are expected to do 2 to 3 jobs during a shift instead of the 1 they are paid for. It means we are coached for not being able to do the work of 2 or more people, which is unfair.

We are asking that Walmart improve the TRANSFER and TRAINING PRACTICE so that:

ü All Associates are CROSS-TRAINED BEFORE they are pulled into other departments.

ü No Associates should be coached for productivity if it is due to being pulled to cover for staffing in other departments.

ü All Associates be CODED for all departments they are pulled to work in so that Associates can bid for any open shifts and get paid the wage for that department.

OUR Walmart’s purpose is to help Walmart employees as individuals or groups in their dealings with Walmart over labor rights and standards and their efforts to have Walmart publicly commit to adhering to labor rights and standards. OUR Walmart has no intent to have Walmart recognize or bargain with it as the representative of Walmart employees.

We Associates would like a response within the next 48 Hour.
