This petition is to agree to get governments to use resources to try stop ebola in Liberia, Africa. This petition is to get governments around the world attention to try find a cure for ebola. My target audience for this petition are people who have seen or want to help cure ebola. The objective of this petition is to get as many signatures to raise awareness to tell governments to use resources to stop ebola. If ebola doesn’t get stopped, it could spread all around the world. There have already been around 2000 deaths from ebola in Liberia.

Ebola is a virus that started in west Africa on march. It includes Guinea, Sierra, Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, and Senegal. Ebola is known to kill in 2 to 24 days, it is spread by human to human interactions, the symptoms of ebola are muscle pain, headache and sore throats, then later on when it gets more serious you will experience vomiting, diarrhea, rashes and other body failures, sometimes it will also bleed a lot, for example in your gum.

On August 16 2014 in Monrovia, Liberia. A crowd of local people raided a hospital for suspected ebola patients, the crowd freed the patients and stole many resources from the hospital, they stole bed sheets and mattresses with blood on them. The hospital had no medicine to treat the patients, so they were just keeping them in the hospital. But, by taking the bed sheets and mattresses with blood on them, the virus spread.

Since there was an incident with the hospital, ebola can spread all over west africa, and kill many children. In africa it is also very poor, so there are other deceases, and if those deceases and ebola are in a child, they can die. Ebola is connected to the 6th MDG (COMBAT HIV/AIDS, MALARIA AND OTHER DISEASES). Ebola is in the other diseases, but since ebola was found this year in march, it isn’t on the list of MDG, because it was just found.

Many organizations are helping WHO to solve ebola, right now there is no known cure for it. WHO has a group called “GOARN” it stands for Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network, this network includes UNICEF, MSF, IFRC and many more. The GOARN contribute by donating money, some contribute supplies and some go to the outbreak site and learn or teach how to care for the patients.

Reflection:

First I can start by the school, so I can leave the petition in a class room, or somewhere where there will be lots of people, then they can sign it when they come past it. Then I can Make an online petition and let people online sign their names on my petition. I can I can also put up posters and ask people to come to [venue] and sign their names. My target audience is everyone, I want everyone to take care about Africa and stop ebola.

The deadline for my petition will be 2 weeks, incase people are sick and didn’t come to school, they can still have some time to sign the petition, and maybe sometimes people will have events and they have to time to sign it. I also made the deadline a tiny bit short, so people have to rush to sign it.
