This is a petition to stop the building of a proposed Wal-Mart at the intersection of Houston Levee and Macon Roads in Cordova, Tennessee. Here are the details of the proposed project from the Land Use Control Board of Shelby County. CASE NUMBER: P.D. 06-314CC DEVELOPMENT NAME: LEE LINE FARMS PLANNED DEVELOPMENT LOCATION: Northwest corner of Houston Levee Road and Macon Road APPLICANT: Wal-Mart Stores REPRESENTATIVE: Carlson Consulting Engineer EXISTING ZONING: Currently governed by P.D. 06-314CC REQUEST: Site Plan Approval for a Wal-Mart Super Center consisting of 176,305 square feet of floor area PROPERTY SIZE: 26.87 Acres Major complaints: 825 parking spaces with no more than two lane roads entering or exiting the property. Land backs up to family-friendly neighborhood and Macon-Hall Elementary School. Parents are concerned about increased traffic around the school and safety of the children in an already overcongested area. Neighbors are concerned about crime, lower home values and litter/debris from such a GIANT store. Please check back for any updates on this issue.
