Houston Heights Design Guidelines Vote Petition

The original vote on this committee was shady. This is harming our neighborhood by de teasing home values.

Homeowners should have a vote on whether they want to be subjected to these harsh restrictions BEFORE they sign up for them.

These new guidelines are terribly restrictive to homeowners and will destroy our homes's value.

I believe in property rights. If you buy a home with deed restrictions and want to get upset because you can't do something against those restrictions, shame on you, you knew what you were getting in to. However, if you buy a home with no deed restrictions and the City wants to add deed restrictions, shame on them. I brought my home before the Historic deed restrictions, I believe I should be able to opt out of this craziness.

Any changes or proposed guidelines need to be actually voted on by the property owners in the historic districts.

These changes are equivalent to zoning which would require super majority vote to put in place. Please give us a vote.

The neighborhood should have a fair vote. The majority of the people in the Heights oppose the HAHC. If you purchased your property prior to the Historic regulations you should have the ability to opt your property out. Many of the couples in the neighborhood bought their properties expecting to be able to expand their home as their family grew. Family's are good for our neighborhood.

Also they need to allow the demo of 901 Heights. I sat in two planning meeting to support the demo, and I was amazed at how much power these stupid bureaucrats have.

Reasonable control is desired.

This process has gotten progressively more restrictive since implemented. The vote for the ordinance was an odd process that appears to have purposely been done in such a manner as to create confusion and the promises that were made by the city have been modified repeatedly from what was originally voted on. The right thing to do is allow a vote to see if the people still want this

There have been enough restrictions and enough taking away property owner's right. Please allow property owners decide what's best for them instead of pushing agenda of some elected officials.

The allowable sq footage proposed is far too restrictive. It devalues the historic homes that have no additions, especially those with garages and carriage houses such as ours that adds to the sq footage. Require the homeowners to maintain the facade of the home and allow them to build on the back of the home. No family, or developer will buy a 1400 sq foot home they cannot enlarge because the garage and small carriage house adds to the restrictive sq footage. Focus on the homes that are being neglected to the point of demolition. Do not punish those of use with homes still having the original footprint.

I do not want restrictions.

I didn't sign up for my home with the original footprint to no longer fit the guidelines!!! This is overreaching!!!

Property owners should have a voice

I want a vote!

Taxes go up and value goes down. Home owners are not an obstacle to be overcome. We live here.
