Hooton Crossroads is a busy junction with 6 different route ways. Children have to cross at the junction to access a local park and school, they have to negotiate 3 of these roads and filter lane traffic lights. Often traffic has come off the motorway and is travelling at speed. It is also used by heavy goods vehicles, cars using the park and ride at Hooton Station and is the main A41 road between Chester, Birkenhead and the M53. Plans have recently been approved to build in excess of 350 houses on a site adjacent to Hooton station this is bound to increase the volume of traffic considerably. On the 17th May 2011 a 13yr old girl from Vernon Avenue was on her way to the park located at Hooton Green when she was hit by a car coming from the M53 as she crossed the road infront of the Chimneys. She sustained head injurys and underwent surgery to pin her lower calf. Luckily after much pain and discomfort she should make a full recovery.
