I served with Billy in An Caith Caith. We joined the DF December 30th 1996 together. Billy was a very decidiated member of the DF who gave his life so that his comrades could be safe. Billy deserves to be recognized for his selfless act of bravery which he displayed on that faithful day on which he lost his life in Service of our country. I sincerely hope that this does not fall on def ears. I also hope the President Higgins gets behind this petition to recognized a modern Irish Hero or have we already forgotten our very recent past.

It amazing how our government treat our hero.s when they have sarcarfice there lives for there country and goverment they brush these atrocities under the carpet this young man gave his life for the flag and his country he should of be awarded the mmg medal right away not 24 years after his demise it's a disgrace to all those men and women who have lost there lives while serving with the unifil I was on the 86th inf bn and I was the Ammunition Sgt for that trip and the area were this young man was killed left nothing to the imagination so give this man is mmg
