We the students feel that homework is violating our personal rights, and we feel that it should be prohibited in teachers lesson plans. Pushing students to do work outside of school is unreasonable, when work could simply be done in school.

Social life outside of school is essential in the development of young adults. School already forces students to wake up exceedingly early 5 days a week, and spend 8 hours focusing on academics. Additional work outside of school, when students are already exhausted, takes away necessary time which could be spent pursuing extracurricular activities. Some students have sports, have to work long hours, or have home lives that doesn't allow time to be wasted on homework.

We acknowledge that teachers want us to practice what we have learned, and consistently exercise our brains, but studying outside of school should be encouraged but not required. Students should have the choice of how they want to spend their free time. Students that value their education will find their own time to study, but they should not be given a grade over an assignment that is impeding on their limited free time

Ultimately, homework is unnecessary and doing schoolwork outside of school, should be at the students discretion, and teachers should be utilizing their work hours instead of impeding on ours.
