Home birth is such a beautiful, empowering and safe option. I am so glad that I discovered home birth after the birth of my first child!

Alla ska ha möjlighet att föda hemma om de så önskar!!

Det hade sparat vården mycket pengar i längden att varje kvinna själv kan välja så att hon är trygg under sin förlossning för att slippa komplikationer.

Det är förbjudet att flytta djur veckor före förlossningen men människor ska förflyttas under pågående värkarbete - alltså något som vi vet stör förlossningen så mycket att vi förbjuder det för djur. Vi ska föda där vi är trygga och ostörda det är forskningen enig om. Då fungerar förlossningen på bästa sätt. För vissa finns tryggheten på ett sjukhus och för andra hemma men vi ska ha rätt att välja. Det blir en klassfråga då bara de med egen god ekonomi kan betala barnmorskor privat, kan få den mänskliga rättigheten att välja plats att föda på. Å andra sidan är hemförlossningar billigare än sjukhusförlossningar för landstinget. Varför många inte frågar efter möjligheten till hemförlossning är helt enkelt för att de inte känner till möjligheten.

Det finns idag ingen anledning att rekommendera en födelseplats före en annan till friska kvinnor med normal graviditet.

The lack of financing constitutes a systematic obstruction of women's right to give birth at home. Swedish women who don’t want an intervention prone hospital birth (often second time around), and who pay for everyone else's hospital births through their high taxes, cannot get financing for their own birth if they choose to birth outside of a hospital. Because there are no publicly financed alternatives to hospital birth, all midwives are forced to make a living in the hospitals, thereby making unavailable the presence of a skilled midwife for a home birth should you be wealthy enough to afford one. This has increased the number of women who choose to give birth at home - UNASSISTED BY MIDWIVES!!! Midwives’ lack of rights to prescribe necessary emergency medicines to use for out of hospital births in case of post partum bleeding is another such systematic obstruction. This in spite of the fact that Swedish midwives have wider prescription rights than midwives in any other country, a prescription right that includes strong hormonal contraceptives and morning after-pill. The lack of financing and the lack in prescription rights are both well contemplated obstructions of midwives' and women's autonomy in that many women and midwives, who would otherwise consider birthing or caring for birthing women at home are prevented either by economic limitations or by an intentional limitation of the otherwise well documented superior safety , both of which are in fact nullifying their formal rights to out of hospital birth. Making Women's Choices Safe. Swedish legislation insist on all midwives' obligation to perform abortions, without any exemption on religious or other grounds, because it ensures that safe abortions are free and available as a vital part of women’s reproductive freedom.
