**To clarify, the student body doesn't actually vote on Homecoming Queen, it's decided by a group of judges. However, in order to strengthen my resume, I am putting up this petition to demonstrate how much support I have from the community. So thank you for your support.** Hello, my name is Sara Gomer and I'm a super senior here at the University of Iowa. If you're here, you probably already know me, but for those of you who don't, allow me to introduce myself. I'm a Elementary Education major with a Specialization in Art and Studio Art major looking to become a Elementary School teacher. I'm from many places because my dad was in the military, but since he retired in Iowa City the summer of 2007 I found my home to be here and with the University of Iowa. I'm currently in my 3rd year as a leadership member of the University of Iowa Dance Marathon. I have been a part of making it all possible for 5 years though, this year being my fifth year. I have been a volunteer, dancer, MCA (morale captain assistant), family representative, and volunteer committee member. I really enjoy being part of this organization and think that the benefits of the cause are definitely reaped by the participants. I am also a member of Circle K International a volunteer organization on campus. I created and ran the Dance Marathon Chair member position for the 2010-2011 School year. I'm also an active volunteer in the Iowa City community volunteering with the 10,000 hours show, Summer of the Arts, UAY(United Action for Youth) and the Robert A. Lee Recreation center. Finally, I was the founder of and President for the Studio Artists Club from the Spring of 2008-Spring of 2009. As a the president I not only got invited to and attended the Student Leadership Institute in the fall of 2008 and 2009, but also attended the Finkbine dinner held in the Spring of 2009. Even thought the organization may not be around today it started some great connections and groups within the arts campus. I love the University of Iowa and try to show that in all my activities from the Dance Marathon to Circle K to being a volunteer to starting a student organization. I'm just trying to run not for the sake of popularity, but for the sake of being down to earth and really being a part of the campus. On Iowa and Go Hawks! Thank you everyone.
