We need an exemption for holiday decorations to be allowed in the common areas alongside our homes in Portofino as long as they do not make a noise past a certain time at night and as long as they are taken down within a reasonable time (eg 3 weeks after the holiday). We have always allowed decorations in Portofino since I’ve lived here for over 20 years. This is a horrible time to start in enforcing these grinchy rules. Either change the rules or make a holiday- related exemption. NOW

Ignoring how ridiculous this is as an issue, the cost to send everyone color photos of their decorations and then require they mail or email in confirmation they are removed is out of control.

Holiday decorations are so important for our neighborhood. They make us feel like a community and lift our spirits, especially important this year! We were blindsided by the notice that the rule would be enforced after decades, and the letter left residents feeling alienated and upset. Please reconsider enforcement, or issue relaxed guidelines. Let's come up with solutions!

Please keep the decorations. We can spend the holidays with friends and family, but we can still walk the neighborhood and see all the holiday spirit and smile!

We have got to get these rules changed so that our children can enjoy the holiday decorations! Some of my best memories growing up with my family is decorating the inside and outside of our house for every holiday and I have started creating these same memories with my own children. We have been decorating our outside here for almost 10 years now and have never had a complaint or violation letter, so I don’t understand why it is an issue now. We plan to continue to decorate our outside for our children and all the children in the neighborhood. The fact that it is even questioned now and the possibility of people not decorating makes me so sad. Things have got to change!!

I wonder what HOA does with all of the money from people who have been fined for in the past? Do the math and ask yourself with all of the monthly HOA fees that Villa Portofino makes where does it go...landscapers can't cost too much and they aren't doing any major fixes or remodels anywhere right now...when we got new fences a couple of hrs ago the HOA ended up going through 3 or 4 different fencing companies and at the same time everyone's HOA fees got raised which means that we all paid for these fences to be replaced so technically we own these fences...why weren't the small fences with the gate added into the replacement of these fences? If you walk around you'll notice somebody these fences are warping and still need to be upgraded...focus on that instead worrying about holiday decorations...bah humbug you SCROOGES!!!

I really enjoy seeing the holiday decorations around VP and appreciate how they add to our sense of community. Please permit residents to decorate for the holidays. If there are concerns about the decorations, please issue guidelines instead of banning them. Thank you!

HOA needs to focus on more important things like all the car break ins that occur in Villa Portofino...not holiday decorations. How about doing what you can on getting the city to replace the light bulb on Esmeraldas Drive?

It is a reasonable action for the HOA to require removal of decorations in the front of the homes by a certain date, but not a complete ban, especially in 2020 where we need joy, and especially since it has never been enforced. If the HOA wants to require that homeowners have nothing personal in the front of their homes, then they need to require this for everything and everyone. People have other personal items and actual plant gardens in front of their houses. You legally cannot have favoritism for certain homeowners. So, continue with enforced homogenization (which the majority do not want) or rewrite the rules. Thank you!

This is ridiculous, no one complains about Christmas lights being up all year. These people have no life, all they do is walk around the complex with their clipboards writing people up. We have only lived here a little over 10 years and had several write ups for stupid items, one in particular was 3 letters at once, all minor items, my neighbors also received 2-3 letters. Get a life. leave us alone!

Please allow for us to have decorations. My children were so excited to decorate this year amidst everything that is going on. Please, please allow them to have this joy. We just moved here a year ago and loved the neighborhood because of all of the friendly neighbors and festive vibe around the holidays. Please do not take this away!
