As what some would consider a "professional student", I have had my fair share of run-in's with faculty and staff from many different colleges and universities. While some encounters have been helpful and worthwhile, many unfortunately, have been the complete opposite. At the college that I am currently enrolled at I have had nothing but trouble getting any assistance in transferring credits and expediting communications with my future school. After having called four different contacts in four different departments I was still without answers. It even got to the extent that the Dean of the specific school in question pushed my inquiries off onto someone else, who surprisingly enough, didn't even bother to respond to my emails and calls. This petition is designed to generate awareness and hopefully show that people that work for higher education institutions should be held more accountable to their students. We deserve the respect and answers that we work and pay for. By signing this petition you are stating that you acknowledge the need for more requirements to be implemented that would mandate faculty and staff to keep direct contact and work more effectively with students.
