Put Proposed Funding Cuts on HOLD for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

I am employed by a non profit organization which provides daily services and supports to people with Developmental Disabilities. The services are funded by DCH and DBHDD by the NOW and COMP Medicaid waivers. The proposed new rates for these vital services seem to include SIGNIFICANT REDUCTIONS IN FUNDING FOR A LOT OF SERVICES. This will no doubt have a big impact on the people I work with and likely with the quality and level (#) of staff which can be afforded to provide the services. As a dedicated employee who works with people with developmental disabilities I urge you to put the proposed new rates on HOLD until they can be studied further to assure there are no unintended negative consequences. It is important that any new rates support the hiring and retention of quality staff members. The new rates have so many cuts, the program I work in may have to cut days of services, hours of services, and may result in the reduction of work force. THANK YOU for considering holding the new rates for more study on the direct impact on real people and the organizations that support them. This has not been done to date! Caution is needed when impacting people's lives so greatly!
