There is no justification to approve a book like this for minors. The teacher and school board must do better. This is extremely disturbing and disappointing to hear of this book being assigned to such young children in our Vail schools. Disgusting.

Books containing this type of sexual content have no place in our education sysytem. There is no meaningful literary curriculum that cannot be taught without this vulgar content. Our children should be learning how to use the power of written language to stimulate meaningful discussion not learning how to sexually stimulate themselves.

The book possibly slipped through the approval process because of the authors name - who has written other books which would be considered appropriate. However, THIS book is NOT appropriate reading material. And should be removed.

I read the whole book. It could have been very good if it took out the sexual references. That doesn't belong in this age group. It was very uncomfortable. Otherwise the themes about overcoming adversity and family dynamics were good. I think parents really need to be able to review all other instructional materials.

They're are so many better books out there (the G.A. Henry books for example) to teach God's lessons, there's no reason to have such lowbrow books available to kids. It's crudeness masquerading as education.

You need to be accountable for what you say you are going to do. You say you get all materials, but I can’t believe that you would let this and other things through that we have witnessed. Just admit that there is a problem and let’s do something about it.
