Hold Public Meetings on Scarsdale Surveillance System

We need an open and honest discussion before any implementation.

I would include the installation of cameras around the village in general. We saw the # in other communities, but # or placement planned in Scarsdale. In this day and age, it is not enough to protect the collected data except when requested by law enforcement. Given the history of enemies lists and abuse of power by the Executive Branch of Government, our only protection of privacy is for certain kinds of surveillance information not to exist.

We need an open and honest discussion before any implementation. Where is the funding coming from and who approved the spending?

I’m ok with having license plates being captured on and off the highways and maybe in and out of our main roads like mamaroneck and post but I’m not a fan of having drones watch us like China.

This is too much. It is also the sort of thing that should be discussed by the community beforehand.

I find the idea of being under surveillance absolutely chilling and totalitarian in nature. I would not consent to this and my guess is that it is a fourth amendment violation.

I don’t want surveillance vigilance in Scarsdale.

Recognizing that such a system could be useful in public safety, I share the concern that a robust public dialogue did not occur before a vote on its implementation. I agree that further dialogue and engagement should take place to alleviate the concerns expressed by Village residents.

This is another frightening step toward a surveillance society, the type that many of our residents from the PRC and elsewhere fled in order to enjoy our freedoms. All freedom-loving people will be a hard "no" on this one. This is what happens when few show up to vote or choose to run in Village Elections.
