I think it's rude

I had Ms. Franco as a teacher in my Junior year and she was an awesome teacher, she never raised her voice, she was never cruel. It sounds like some men just can't handle a woman with a title.

I do not appreciate that she did not acknowledge the seven students as a major issue!!!!

I completely agree with this. She should have taken this situation more seriously and it annoys me so much that favoritism happens everywhere. You can not have a position like hers where you are supposed to show that you will take action when it comes to bullying harassment, racism, etc. and safety with your students but you yourself go totally against everything. Bad role model. She should NOT be working in the school system neither should Mrs. Enos. The people who take their job positions seriously and will go to every exstent to make sure nothing goes un-noticed or ignored or gets fabricated should be the ones to have that job. That's an amazing school and they don't need poor leadership from ignorant and power hungry people.

I agree with all of the above comments. If anyone said something like this at my school they would immediately be fired.

Ms. Franco fails as a leader on many levels. To allow children (of all backgrounds) to develop in this poisonous atmosphere is horrific.

Unchecked ambition is dangerous and the fall of many. I have lived in the great city of New Bedford my entire life and understand all of the "unspoken rules" of society. When you know you're being insulted or marginalized and you bitterly accept it because what can you do? We CAN complain, but where would it get us? Something has to give at some point! Why can't my family members attend a great school without fear of being judged? Or fear being profiled? If we allow this to pass then we accept being lesser than we are destined to be.

Accountability is called for.

Mrs. Franco clearly needs to be held accountable for mishandling this situation. Immediately after these OBVIOUSLY RACIST comments were brought to her attention, she should have take action to remove him from the building. Had a black student agreed to a statement along the lines of "All white teachers fail to do their jobs and all black students should kill them one by one" like now open bigot Lino Cabral the student would be expelled (with no questions asked), police force would have been called, the Standard Times notified along with all parents. Also, this woman is capable of noticing students without IDs in a crowd of individuals and consider that a threat, but not "...my .45 is loaded and ready to go". I can't help but assume she tried to help him as a personal friend and fellow soccer coach. To hold a position like hers (and hope for a promotion) you cannot engage in that practice. THIS CANNOT TAKE PLACE IN OUR SCHOOL!

She should hold her teacher accountable for the racism and violent comments.
