Citizens Demand Parking Changes in Hoboken

Instead of the city listening to these concerns, they have actually hired more employees to give out tickets and extended their hours. They were previously working till 11pm and now they are out till 2AM. Especially in the 11th-14th st. area. The mayor made a bad deal with the new Harlow building and Trader Joe's which eliminated blocks of parking spaces and now coincidentally, the parking authority is giving out more tickets in this area. It's a disgrace!!

I have been living in Hoboken since Sept. 2011, and I have never seen a more dysfunctional and outrageous organization like the Hoboken Parking Utility. Trying to get a parking permit in this town, temporary or permanent, is akin to having teeth pulled without anesthesia. The notices for temporary "No Parking" go up at maximum a day before, leaving almost no notice if a resident doesn't go to their car everyday. The boot removal process is absolutely absurd, waiting on the phone 1 hour before the operator tells me the boot is broken, so an officer must be dispatched and will be there in the next 45 mins to 2 hours. How is this allowed?? Not to mention that if the cop does not show up at all, that leaves my car in a street cleaning spot to garner yet another ticket? If I pay to have my boot removed and it is the city's equipment that fails, how am I still at fault for getting another ticket?? These are literally only 3 issues that I can point out that have happened in the last week, and it is a slap in the face for residents who pay taxes and follow all city regulations and ordinances to the T.

These parking regulations currently are obscene and an abuse of power.

Please also add cleaning schedule on the first and last week of the month (or similar), i doubt the city gets that dirty that it needs cleaning once a week (and its useless anyway).

As someone who commutes to Hoboken and has a terrible time parking and is sick of paying tickets I think this petition is a good start IF the politicians listen. Revenue should not be above the concerns of citizens.

Parking in Hoboken is an absolute nightmare for residents AND vistors. Public officials have no clue of the amount of stress caused by lack of parking and parking rules. Stop focusing on revenues and focus on serving your residents !!

I would also add, don't boot non resident parkers. Tow them to free a spot.

Hoboken is a charming city with great stores, food, waterfront and just that overall old neighborhood meets modernity feel, but the parking situation has become such a major discouragement to even think about visiting the city unless you have an important agenda there. Horrible parking hurts tourism, Hoboken. (Unless you're New York City, which unfortunately you're not.)

Actually tow cars that are parked illegally for 2 weeks in the same spot instead of booting them (I'm looking at you 13th & Bloomfield)
