As a new person to the area, I visited Hetton Lyons County Park one of the highlights of my visit was its simplistic beauty, please keep it this way and allow it to remain as a car park. If nothing else to allow those who need to park close by the ability to do so, so that they too can be afforded the beauty of a fantastic outdoor leisure facility.

if this goes ahead who will clean up after they leave, leaving behind the inevitable mess, Sunderland council cannot even empty our bins or cut the grass .. Crime will soar .. lock it or loose it !!!!!

Absolutely shocking. Who sits at these meetings and sanctions this. Time these councillors got out and about instead of just putting pen to paper. Hope this helps.

Absolute disgrace Sunderland council should be ashamed, fishing club looked after the country park for over 20 years, last time we had gypsey travellers in there the place was a mess !

It's a park not a camp site. We already have a perfectly good travelers site behind the park. They can go there.

I totally object to sunderland councils proposed idea of a travellers site, travellers don't live here all year, WE DO !!!!!!!!

Speaking as someone who makes use of Hetton Lyons Country Park on a weekly basis this proposal is completely unacceptable - the car park is in constant use and taking it away will discourage a lot of people from visiting the park.

Totally against this Change. This car park gives access to the lake and the country park, without it means elderly people and anglers have to walk a great deal further to get there. Pathetic excuse for the council to reap in money from travellers ground rent at the expense of using a country parks car park.
