This is a petition to have a Historical Linguistics course offered at the University of Texas at Arlington for the Spring or Fall of 2022. According to the University of Georgia website, "historical linguistics is the scientific study of how languages change over time, which seeks to understand the relationships among languages and to reconstruct earlier stages of languages."
A historical linguistics course would enrich students' knowledge of linguistics, help round off degree programs for those getting a major in linguistics, and for anyone else... be lots of FUN and spark interest in a rich field of study.
