THE URBAN YOUTH EMPOWERMENT FOUNDATION PRESENTS THE STRENGTH IN NUMBERS NETWORK. The debate over mainstream Rap music\'s lack of creativity and general negative influence on the youth is well known. Misogyny, violence, and glamorized crime and drug references seem to be the dominant subject in mainstream Rap music. The music industry promotes this while ignoring the many conscious, truly creative, and more positive Rap artists who are as talented as their pop counterparts. It is no mystery that this type of entertainment is promoted and marketed because it is highly profitable. The Urban Youth Empowerment Foundation has developed The Strength in Numbers Network which is designed to create a national database of progressive minded, Hip Hop music consumers, that independent and unsigned Hip Hop artists can use to promote themselves with. This will give financial power and creative control back to the artists without relying on an industry that rarely acts in their best interest .
