As we Indians proudly embrace Australia as our home, we would want our children to be connected to their roots. Including Hindi in foreign languages will be a win-win for both Australua and India

I have been involved with teaching Hindi in ALL States & Territory since 1992. In 2012 we got Hindi included in the National Languages Curriculum Program, which means Hindi can now be taught in all mainstream schools in Australia. I see no reason why Hindi should not be included in the 'Apps' trial program, after all Australia & India are currently the largest trading partners.

India could be one of biggest trading partner with Australia. The Indian origin kids could be the conduit to this connection for culture, trade etc. With Indian families most kids speak only English at home and since they also have their state language spoken mostly around them , they never get a chance to learn Hindi at home either. Hindi is very useful to get around all over India being the National language. Kids in India always learn at a minimum 3 languages 1) Their State language as the main one 2) English as second language 3) Hindi as their national language. It would be a great investment for these Australians of Indian origin to have some Hindi language skills.
