Although we are liaising with the HLPP, we are independent of the HLPP.

The Council have closed the Hilsea Paddling Pool for 2010 as they have now decided that the HLPP cannot take over the Hilsea Lido paddling pool as first promised unless they agree to maintaining and not charging for 99 years. Obviously,HLPP could not promise this. Councillor Lee Hunt says he intends to make it into a splash pool which is nothing like a paddling pool. Everybody I have talked to wants to keep it as a paddling pool and says they cannot see why the pool cannot be totally rebuilt as is but better. The HLPP have offered to do the repairs themselves but the Council still insisted on the 99year clause.
