The ministry finally committed to the safety upgrades we pushed for at the intersection. It was a long fight and I am exhausted but relieved that the road will be safer for everyone. We have to keep watching to make sure the work actually gets finished.

Do you drive through the intersection of Hwy 21 and Bruce Road 20? (to Bruce Power) It’s one of the most dangerous intersections in Bruce County with multiple near fatal crashes every year and it’s going to get worse with more and more traffic using these roads. There have been two serious crashes and a number of near misses in the last two weeks alone.

As with anything, more voices can make a difference. Would we say something if it could save a friend or loved one?

The emails I receive from people who navigate this intersection daily are heavy because they all share a common fear of what might happen next. I have been spending my nights contacting local officials and waiting for a response that acknowledges the reality of these accidents. It is a slow and exhausting process but we cannot stop pushing for these safety improvements.

As someone who travels to the bruce site Via County road 20 - I fully support this request to improve this intersection. High volume of traffic and the rising/setting sun make navigating the crossing of Hwy 21 dangerous.

I was in a head on 3 car collision July 2018 that totaled my car. I was proceeding south n HWY 21 at 0640 am, an SUV turned left in front of me and a large Pickup came across the intersection, hit the SUV and then both vehicles cam into my lane of traffic.

As a mom, I drive with my son every morning through that intersection and I constantly worry that something will happen because with a long line of cars, in both directions, everyone is impatient wanting to get home and begin to disregard the signs, turn signals, etc.

This is a terrible intersection to cross in the dark. Most of the time you are guessing whether or HWY 21 Southbound vehicles are turning or not. I have witnessed several close calls. Lights or a roundabout are a must before someone gets hurt.

I have been working here 18 years and have lost count of the number of serious accidents at this intersection. I too think a round-about would be perfect here, though it would need to be designed to allow the large components on trailer to navigate it.

I agree that a roundabout is the simplest, efficient, and cost effective option solution at this intersection. Ideally with a separate right dedicated off ramp connecting Hwy 21 Southbound to Bruce Rd 20 to maximize throughput and safety within the roundabout.

I cant count how many times I have had/witnessed neat misses here or actual accidents

I was in a serious accident on this intersection on Friday, November 24th, 2023. Then (my first time driving past it again) nearly saw someone infront of me get into an accident and then I nearly got into an accident again their due to people trying to speed through the intersection with very little time.
