Residents in High Park Road, Upper South View who do not have off street parking endure the problem of getting a parking space on their road on a daily basis. We are also only allowed ONE parking permit per household. It can be really difficult if you have children or heavy shopping to unload. Too often non residents don't use spaces respectfully, parking badly and not maximising the space. We realise Farnham needs visitors, it is a thriving market town and with lots to offer and visitors are good for the economy. But there are so many car parks it would be great to have our roads back making living here much less stressful and reducing traffic, which is getting heavier. We propose stopping the current two hours free parking for all and instead making bays residents only. Those homes without parking/driveways need to have the opportunity to be able to apply for two permits per household and an annual allocation of scratch cards to allow friends and family to be able to park (the scratch cards would be available to all residents in the above mentioned streets). This system works in London and our local council has advised us other roads in Farnham operate in this way. Please support our petition by signing. Friends, family and even those who are fortunate enough to have off street parking are welcome! Thank you ever so much your support is greatly appreciated!

BREAKING NEWS....................

“Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport held a meeting on 15 December 2010 to review all the objections received. It was decided that the proposed increases in the costs of permits should go ahead to ensure the County Council effectively and efficiently manages on-street parking in Surrey by having appropriate charges for parking permits. In addition the proposed charge of £15 for the cost of a replacement permit was also approved. The increases  in permits costs will only come into operation as the existing permits expire. We will therefore, as part of the necessary legal procedure, make a Road Traffic Regulation Order to amend the existing Orders to take into account these changes and place an advertisement in Surrey’s relevant local newspapers advertising the making of the Order. We expect the new charges to be in operation by 1 March 2011. ”

The new cost of having the pleasure to fight for parking will now be....£50 per permit!

BREAKING NEWS....................

From a local council source:

Surrey County Council has made the decision to introduce on-street parking without any discussions with the borough councils. Waverley knew nothing about this until Monday. Waverley Borough Council has sent a strong letter of protest as have most of the other boroughs affected. In short there is real anger.

I can tell you that since Monday I have been able to find out that it is proposed to introduce on-street parking in Castle Street, the Hart, and West Street. There is to be 100 pay and display spaces in Castle Street alone.

Quite where this leaves residents who have paid for parking permits I do not know. From our point of view we must assume that those cars will seek out parking in the nearest available streets – and that means High Park Road, Wykeham Road, and Stoke Hills.

Don't delay act today.....................................!
