The Highland Council is planning to make 344 classroom assistants redundant in primary schools across our region. The removal of classroom assistants compromises the education of children at a crucial early stage in their personal development. This has been done without consultation and disregards the vital work that each of our classroom assistants is responsible for. “We, the undersigned, call on the Highland Council to reverse their decision and retain the services of the classroom assistants in all primary schools. They provide our teachers and children with vital support”.
