Effective 11/16/2015, our community no longer has access to unlimited high speed internet service after many years of WiMAX service provided by Clear. With FCC approval, Sprint bought Clearwire in 2013 with the intent to shut down WiMAX service across the country by the end of 2015 in order to improve their TD-LTE technology utilizing former Clearwire sites. Our community is approximately 20 miles from St. Louis city limits, yet we have no other option for unlimited service for our homes and businesses.

Sprint does not offer comparable service to the former Clear customers. What they do offer is limited data for at least twice the rate we were paying for Clear's high speed internet. We have no cable providers available and satellite technology is not viable for many homes due to topographical limitations. The other wireless ISPs offer only limited data at high rates for home or business broadband service.

There are two major government initiatives, Connecthome and Connect America Fund, in place for providing high speed internet to all of America.

Connecthome: A HUD program that is trying to "bridge the digital divide between those with high speed Internet access and those who can’t afford it". Many of us were able to afford very reasonable rates, but the government allowed our service to be taken away without any options for the same service.

Connect America Fund: The FCC states "Broadband has gone from being a luxury to a necessity for full participation in our economy and society – for all Americans". If that is the goal, why did they approve Sprint's plan to take away unlimited high speed internet for our homes and businesses all across the country without another provider available to replace that same service?

Please sign this petition now and tell the FCC and our Representatives and Senators to give us back what we already had. Sprint should provide the same amount of service they are taking away at a reasonable rate. And to stop big businesses from shutting down any service that they deem "a necessity" for all Americans, unless there is another company available to provide the same quality and quantity of service.
