I’ve never experienced a High Mass so I would love to have that opportunity.

The mass has felt so plain lately. We need the incense and the chant back to really feel like we are in Gods house. My kids would love it too.

Willing to at least read for this Mass anytime I am in town.

Fr. Doug and administrators of SFA Parish, I moved to Manitowoc just two years ago, but my wife grew up here, and as such we plan to stay here for many years. We live a block away from the Grand site, and because we have a very young child and our lives are often chaotic on the weekends, we often end up going to the 10:30am Mass. But whenever we get the chance, we try to go to a more traditional, beautiful, and transcendent Mass. This means driving a half hour or more to go to the Byzantine Monastery in St. Nazianz or the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. We find it disappointing that we live a block away from our Parish Church, but we can’t concentrate on the beauty and transcendence of the liturgy because we are often distracted by a general lack of reverence, loud conversation before and after Mass, frankly corny and mundane music, and the use of ad lib prayers rather than the liturgical prayers of the Church. (changing the words in the Eucharistic prayer, for example) I bring up these examples not to complain or to berate, but to explain why we would choose to drive 30-45 minutes rather than walking a block to Church. For us, a solemn high Mass would be a beautiful and very welcome change – and a liturgical context that we would be more exited to raise our daughter in. I ask you to please consider the needs and desires of the young people of this parish, even if we are a minority. Thank you, Sam Shackelford

I truly miss the traditional masses; Latin, High Mass, the message of the Holy Spirit. I would love to see it come back. I imagine young people have never experienced the mass I grew up with.

I think having a High Mass would be a fantastic opportunity to elevate parishioners' experience of the liturgy and help to reemphasize the sacredness of the liturgy. I (and several others) love the added "smells and bells" of a High Mass.
