HGV Ban for Wilford Lane

Constant heavy traffic and jams at rush hour already, even before the further planned development along Wilford Lane. The road will be grid locked, with more pollution from lorries.

Please consider Ruddington Lane as well as that is used as a rat run for HGV’s especially British Gypsum.

NG2 7ES. It seems HA does not appreciate this road has domestic premises and schools that need a safer road. The banning of HGV's would make it safer for residents, school children and staff not to forget cyclists who take their lives in their hands. I am a cyclist and we need to encourage children to cycle to school- no chance of this if HGV racing along.

The current traffic situation is causing vibration damage to our property because the road and the older properties were not designed to withstand it e.g the houses do not have concrete foundations, they stand on sandstone which crumbles with vibration at the current magnitude and frequency.

Far to busy for a Lane. The traffic already shakes the house sometimes in the early hours of the morning. Now not a pleasant place to live with the noise and pollution.

we have had constant road works and temporary traffic lights over the years to accommodate retirement flats, healthcare centre, trams which affects the flow of traffic. We now have another housing development that has caused many issues. Not to mention we have Forest fans parking on the pavements and blocking the pathways for pedestrians on match days. I’m sure my neighbours will agree that we have had our fair share of inconvenience and increasing the volume of traffic on a B road is unacceptable and is also a safety hazard for the school children.

Wilford Lane is ridiculously busy for a B road. I will sign any petition to limit any traffic on this road

I’ve lived @ 91 Wilford lane since 1985 in that time we’ve seen the quite Lane we moved into abused with very heavy traffic and on top of that with no restrictions for heavy freight and HGV carting dead animal waste/caresses on a regular basis through the heart of densely populated area and two huge schools on the lane !! No additional HGV and traffic is acceptable . Danger to life and property not mentioning the damage to road surface .

Wilford Lane feels more and more dangerous with the volume of heavy traffic coming down it.

I have thought for some considerable time that *Wilford Lane is being used by a type of traffic that is probably inappropriate for the lane, as it now is, not what it was designed for. May I suggest that ALL traffic above 7.5 ton, and approaching Nottingham from the West (M1, Clifton etc) should do so via Clifton Bridge/Queens Road. For onward traffic to/from the east (Radcliffe/Bingham /Newark/Grantham should use Queens Road/Radcliffe Road. I live on Wilford Lane. Over the last few years there has been an increase in traffic, including large lorries etc. I live five floors up in my apartment. Naturally, I open my windows. The dirt that must be generated from this traffic is immense, as it can be seen on my furniture. In addition, we have commercial traffic creating noise that causes me to wake sometimes. WILFORD LANE DOES NOT NEED ANYMORE TRAFFIC, IF ANYTHING, MUCH LESS TRAFFIC, give the additional development planned adjacent the Thomas Becket school, and Rivermead Apartments.

The number of heavy goods vehicles using Wilford Lane has increased dramatically over the last 10 years. I am very concerned by the air & noise pollution as well as the rate of accidents at the mini roundabout at the entry to the road up to the Emmanuel school & Gresham Playing fields.

I support a HGV weight restriction of Wilford Lane

During my recent objection to major housing developments at " Wilford Fields", which I consider the meeting to be a total farce to call "democracy", one of the Authorities "members" referred to Wilford Lane as a "trunk" road. As far as I am aware this is still classified, on all the maps I have looked at including Ordnance Survey, as a "B" class road. It is NOT suitable for either the level or weight of traffic using it as a "cut through". At least a weight restriction is essential along with much better signage to direct traffic along roads designed , and built at considerable cost to cater for the weight and volume of traffic currently using Wilford Lane. It is easy to observe at the end of Meadow Lane HGV vehicles turning left towards Trent Bridge knowing they will turn into Wilford Lane. They should be restricted from doing so and forced onto London Road to take the highly expensively built route up London Road and left towards Clifton Bridge. With the newly approved, and projected, developments on the lane the Council are continuing their "thumbed noses" policy to the residents who are sick to their back teeth of voters being totally ignored by Councillors who pay, such limited attention to serving their voters. Like other neighbours we have suffered structural damage to the property with no prospect what so ever of receiving compensation. . Is the situation getting better? No it is not. More recently, this past couple of years we have been blessed with farm vehicles, four wheel tractor pulling four wheel containers, of what I presume is slurry. These vehicles I would guess have tyres between eight and ten feet tall and have been a constant site on the lane through the summer and autumn. The Lane is also very popular throughout the year with car carriers. We should be VERY alarmed at the probability of Wilford Lane being used to route HGV's along Wilford Lane during any road works to improve the A52. At night and from very early in the mornings the noise from these vehicles is intolerable. It it a well known fact that loud noise can be a cause of ill health in similar ways to toxic air. Sometimes these HGV's roll on to the pavement and park immediately outside the Rivermead complex. Not to deliver a new car or goods to a resident, but to visit the onsite shop for cigs drinks, sweets et al. No one in authority ever seems to take these drivers to task. Why are they just allowed to flout the law? It' the same late at night, the speed limit it totally ignored, and the clattering noise that emanates from these vehicles is very intrusive, particularly at night or in the early hours. We have years of frustrating hold ups and stop go temporary traffic signals ahead of us here on Wilford Lane, due to the next big known development on the cards adjacent to The Becket school. We are currently experiencing daily hold ups and traffic queues as it is. When will the nightmare end?

2 schools, a medical centre, new houses, proposed flats at the old social club.. our road can’t take much more!

The recent & planned property developments on either side of this 2 lane road already create massive holdups/delays. No way of widening road so HGV ban is a must.

For goodness sake what have the Council got against the residants of Wilford Lane, they have just proposed more residential properties on the Social Club site, with even more pollution and traffic. It is difficult already trying to get in and out of our properties. Seens very fishy to me how the Council is just approving all this building work and ignoring the congestion of traffic and now even more so with these road works.

This morning I left my house, opposite the doctor's surgery at 8.55am and it took me 20 minutes before I got to Clifton flyover. something needs to be done. 75 Wilford Lane.
