Nurses are well aware that this pandemic has cost many their jobs and we are truly grateful for ours but it has caused a greater burden on our discipline financially.

Nurses have been required to work excessive hours in overtime causing a rise in their tax liability. A lot of this overtime is mandatory and very necessary due to the pandemic. We as nurses/1st responders during this Covid-19 pandemic are requesting tax relief since the overtime can place us in a higher tax bracket. We call on our elected officials to implement legislation for some relief in this matter.

This is an urgent matter for us and a quick comprehensive response is being requested.

Addendum: The title of this petition is heroes/nurses 1st responders

A HERO is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities. A person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal

If you disagree or have a gripe about the petition please feel free to go to ipetition and initiate one that you have a passion for.

I have been in contact with several legislative offices to discuss the financial burden that mandatory overtime has placed upon our frontline workers. The stories shared here confirm that this tax issue remains an urgent concern for many. Our focus now is ensuring that these officials understand the necessity of clear and immediate policy adjustments.

I WORK IN HEALTH CARE AND SEE DAILY HEROES WORKING TIRELESSLY TO BRING COMFORT TO THOSE WHO HAVE THE VIRUS. MANY TIMES OVERTIME IS MANDATORY FROM LACK OF OTHER FALLEN WORKERS AND THEY STEP UP NOT SO MUCH FOR MONEY BUT COMPASSION.

I'm a physical therapist and I believe healthcare workers need all the help we can get.

THANK YOU for starting this. its exhausting enough without the tax man taking everything we earn in overtime pay.

My wife is an ER nurse and she hasnt seen her kids in weeks because of the extra shifts. getting punished with higher taxes for working overtime during a plague is just wrong.

We as nurses and First responders should not be charged with putting our lives on the line for the betterment of our constituents and also pay the government through higher taxes for doing so!
