The tragic death of Officer Ashley Guindon makes me really think about all our local heroes and their sacrifices. There is no greater sacrifice.

On Wednesday, our school board will vote on the name for the Ferlazzo site elementary school. The two names being considered are Firefighter Kyle Wilson and educator/advocate Dr. Hampton.

What if we could honor them both and Officer Guidon by naming the new school Heroes? Heroes Elementary Schools could have a wall dedicated to all our local fallen heroes. A second wall could be dedicated to local lifetime educational heroes.

It is time to stop arguing over who deserves their name on a building. Please lets take a step away from the politics and really give the children a school name they relate to.
