Recently, Herman Nowlin, a United States veteran, was appointed a guardian/conservator by the Lynchburg Virginia court system. The court appointed a guardian ad litem to oversee the process. Despite his repeated requests to this person he was denied access to independent counsel, denied his right to a second independent medical evaluation and denied his right to appear in court. Also ignored were the legal documents he had previously set up to insure this did not happen. Please indicate by signing below that this is not acceptable.
I really thought this might just float around in the void but seeing so many people agreeing that what happened to Mr. Nowlin is wrong honestly hits pretty hard. It is wild to think about how many of you have stopped to care about this when the court system just wanted to keep it quiet. I have a lot of thoughts on what to do next because this momentum feels like it is actually pushing us somewhere real.

This is a veteran who served his country. He deserves his rights back immediately. Total disgrace.

Totally unacceptable. A man should be allowed to speak for himself in his own defense. Fix this now.

My heart breaks for him. He worked hard to protect his future and they just trampled over it. Let the man have his own life back.

The courts really think they can just ignore legal papers? Its wrong plain and simple. Give him his rights back.

How can they deny a second medical opinion? Something smells real fishy with this whole guardianship mess.
