I really like living in Mascoutah. It is a nice little rural town surrounded by farm land. I think it would be good to allow chickens in town. A rooster might be a little annoying - but people would probably get used to it. But rooster or not, a country town should allow chickens....

Hens would be great, all the money spent on spraying the mosquitos is not working.

This is long overdue. I support self-sustainability and allowing hens within city limits is a step in that direction.

Our family has had chickens for years. They are our pets. They eliminate Mosquitos and other bugs with the added benefits of eggs and sweet companions. People who have not experienced small flocks worry they will be noisy, stinky, and a nuisance, but I assure you this is NOT the case. If city towns like Soulard allow chickens, surely a farm town like Mascoutah would be open to these heartwarming birds. We want to move to Mascoutah, but I won't give up our chickens. I hope this passes.

Chickens are a great way to get your own eggs...but owners need to tend after them... also in their own yards not in neighbors yards
